At Buddybet, we love to get behind a good cause that aligns with our values. That’s why this year, we’re a proud sponsor of Girls Gone Fishin’.
This annual fishing competition held from April 6-9th sees hundreds of women hit the picturesque waters of the Northern Territory’s Daly River for five days of fun and festivities as they seek the elusive metre-long barra.
The comp launched in 2014 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. So after hearing from some of the Buddybet team who took part and had the time of their lives, we knew we had to get on board and support this incredible event. After all, when you think about it, Girls Gone Fishin’ and Buddybet have a lot in common…
It Values Female Participation
Obviously…this one is in the name.
A fishing event dedicated to female anglers is something we support whole-heartedly. If you haven’t yet witnessed these ladies in action, it’s not too late for a sneaky last-minute holiday out to the NT to see what it’s all about.
Buddybet prides itself on being a social betting app with mass appeal; whose users come from all backgrounds, walks of life, and genders and bet on an equally broad range of topics. We’re committed to breaking down barriers and stereotypes to ensure everyone can have fun in a safe and supportive environment. And that’s exactly what Girls Gone Fishin’ is all about too.
We currently have a user base that is 20% female, and that number’s growing faster than a Black Marlin. Guess what everyone: females can enjoy fishing, and betting… and betting on fishing. Get around it!
It’s All About Your Mates
After speaking with many women in the competition, it’s clear their primary motivation to enter in the comp year after year was to enjoy being out on the water with their teammates!
This is highlighted by the novelty events held throughout the competition such as their ‘Barralympics’ night, where the ladies get together and compete for bragging rights in a range of hilarious competitions.
Buddybet’s social betting platform is all about mates getting together and challenging each other on heaps of stuff; from how many push ups they can pump out to who’s going to finish the parma challenge at the local pub.
Mates challenging mates is at the heart of Buddybet, and it’s great to see the Girls Gone Fishin’ crew taking the same approach with their event.
At Buddybet, we’re all about the bets that are a little bit left of centre. Girls Gone Fishin’ is not your typical event, and that’s exactly why it’s on our app!
Buddybet allows buddies to bet on things like:
- The size of the catch of the day
- The smallest fish of the tournament
- The total number of fish caught throughout the competition
If you have an event you think would be perfect for the Buddybet app, we’d love to hear from you! Reach out to us through our social channels or at email@example.com.
